Motherbat saw a story on the news a while back about a guy whose car was stolen but had a tracker on it that allowed him to tell the police where it was being driven and the car was recovered the same night. So she decided I needed one for the Corvette. About the same time she started hassling me about what I wanted for Christmas and wouldn't take 'nothing' for an answer.
Using a mobile app you can configure the tracker to send alerts when it starts moving or leaves a predefined location, along with some other stuff.
The screenshot shows it complaining it was being tampered with, due to a light level change (it has a sensor for that) and me picking it up off the table, then leaving home, then coming back home, then being tampered with again as I took it back inside the house.
Once it goes in the Corvette the tamper things shouldn't happen unless somebody goes rooting around for it.
This particular model isn't hard wired and can last 6 months on one battery charge.
