It seems to me that when Bonby becomes an adult and they sell her cigarettes in stores, she will smoke a lot. Cigarettes have a slightly stress-relieving effect on the nervous system. Therefore, in order not to eat too much sweet from which women get fat and lose their attractiveness, many of them just smoke. In this sense, cigarettes are a kind of substitute for sweets in depression. The same goes for alcohol. Cigarettes and alcohol are less harmful and dangerous than drugs.
