>>/13538/ Unsure, but the flag the South uses is continuation of symbols already used by Chosŏn Kingdom. Soviet-backed provisional government (so, by continuity predecessor of modern-day Chosŏn in the north) also used the same symbols. But they also used a slightly different design. If I were to design a flag, I'd use this, but change colours of the background to red with golden stripes. This would also match the old Imperial standard.
