2. The role of Pelikán as a medium for a bunch of themes, topics, and thoughts. He isn't just a central figure whose deeds moves the events forward (or rather the passive sufferer of the events moved by others beyond him). As I mentioned above he is also a speaking tube for the creators. He also shows us the difference in the life of the hardworking people and the privileged group of ruling comrades - like his visits to Comrade Virág. He teaches us the difference between theory and practice (the pool isn't for the people to swim). He also demonstrates stoicism and a weird optimism in the face of all the hardships.
