I played some metal slug multiplayer and it bored me. It was a pretty game but not for me. Maybe that one is better.

I played some contra in single player. Difficulty aside the core gameplay didn't make me come back and continue. I doubt multiplayer can make me a contra fan.
That clusterfuck on the screen was mostly for Pop'n Twinbee in which at times I couldn't tell the difference between player sprite, terrain and mob because colour pallete was so faintly diversified.

I played it in single player and had fun so I wanted to see what multiplayer is like but my partner at the time said that the multi doesn't really work that well but I can't rememember now what was his reasoning for that.
