There are two primary factors for preparing for Nuclear War: The Blast, and the Fallout. If you survive the blast, you must survive the fallout. You will have to stay in your shelter for at least 2 weeks before the fallout is even remotely safe. In the OP YouTube Playlist of DoD-produced educational films, Fallout is explained repeatedly.

REMEMBER: NUCLEAR WAR IS SURVIVABLE IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND ARE PREPARED!

EDUCATE YOURSELF!

DISTRIBUTE AND CONTRIBUTE TO THIS INFORMATION

THIS IS ESSENTIAL INFORMATION FOR THE SURVIVAL OF GLOBAL THERMONUCLEAR WAR
The CONELRAD system no longer exists. Please note this when reviewing the literature. Our aparatus for Nuclear Prepardness fizzled out in the late 1960's after a calming of tensions and a number of lawsuits about the program similar to what we see today about the P(l)andemic.

Some information is outdated, but these films are essential.

You know the video game, have you ever seen the real stuff? There exist today numerous misconceptions about Nuclear Explosions. Understanding how the Nuclear Bomb works, as well as its affects, are essential to survival.

The Department of Defense Office of Civil Defense became FEMA. I do not know what the British version became, but their films were made in collaboration with the Ministry of Information.

THERE IS NO PUBLIC FALLOUT SHELTER PROGRAM IN THE UNITED STATES ANYMORE

CIVIL DEFENSE NO LONGER EXISTS, THERE ARE NO ELLABORATE PLANS IN PLACE AS THERE WERE IN THE 1960'S FOR THE RESUMPTION OF SERVICES IN THE SURVIVING AREAS

IF THERE ARE CIVIL DEFENSE PUBLIC FALLOUT SHELTERS, THEY'RE NOW BASEMENTS OF COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS THAT YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT, REPURPOSED AS STORAGE ROOMS FOR FILES OR MAYBE EVEN SERVERS

YOU MUST BE YOUR OWN CIVIL DEFENSE WORKER
> hide under desk, die later

This is a misconception. There will actually be many survivors outside of the blast areas if low-yield weapons are used. If you are outside of the blast radius, or on its fringe, you will have minimal to no damage. Fallout, radioactive particles from the explosion falling back to earth, is your primary concern. The videos explain this in detail, in the US Civil Defense film AND an in-depth one made by the Department of the Army. Just check the playlist.

YOU CAN SURVIVE IF YOU ARE SMART! DO NOT BELIEVE THE MISCONCEPTIONS OF TV!

I bet people say Nukes aren't real because of the Sci-Fi lore and don't actually know the real stuff

This version has a green cover and is the best one to use.
The 2016 version with a red cover has an scale error in the plans for a tin can dosimeter - don't use that one.

> You linked Duck & Cover unironically? Come on, dude.

The reason for this was the post-bomb assesment of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, reviewing the survivors, their conditions, and so on. The reason for Duck and Cover is to protect you from the flash, and then flying debreies from the resulting shockwave, which is far reaching like an earthquake. After this point, Nuclear Fallout leading to contamination is your concern.

Iodine is an essential nutrient. After enemy attack, Iodine can be used in very large amounts to temporarily halt hormone production in the thyroid and treat radiation sicknesses. This amount is much larger than dietary dosages, so plan accordingly.

1. Try to be as far away from the blast zone as possible to not get hit with the heatwave.

2. Survive the air pressure blast - Get into a concrete building and the lowest floor you can be in. Stay away from windows.

3. Survive the radiation. - There will be radiation falling from the sky. Cover the windows if they got blown out and try not to let air get inside for 3 days. Don't go outside for 3 days. After 3 days you can start to let air into the room you are in. You should try to stay inside where you are for like a week to be safe if you have the time. After a week you can go outside and travel.
3. Once outside, don't touch anything or eat food that may have been touched by falling radiation.
4. Go to an area far away from the blast zone and start a new life there. The blast zone must be quarantined for a long time.

Take in shelter with you, food, water, handcrank radio, flashlight, maybe phone and charger, and bucket to shit in.

Once the fallout has fallen to the ground, it poses no airborn risk unless something picks it back up. As for the underground cellar, that should be fortified immediately to take in an air intake from an above-ground pipe with an U connection and some filters. Pumps would be needed only for extremely deep cellars. One could also simply cover the doors of the cellar with cloth soaked in vinegar, which would absorb the fallout (but it would become radioactive, at the entrance to the cellar).

The Office of Civil Defense recomended 2 weeks before individuals should begin making short trips outside their home. The radiation /is/ fallout.

> Once outside, don't touch anything or eat food that may have been touched by falling radiation.

"There is no such thing as a 'Fallout Suit' but clothing can at least prevent it from touching the skin." Of course, your clothing will then be contaminated and should be removed and decontaminated immediately upon returning.

One of the most important things to do is ensure the cleanlyness of your hair. Fallout can fall into the hair.

> isn't some sort of tech that could disable the warheads before they impact. doesn't this seem logical

If you intercept an ICBM you would still have to explode it in air. You aren't an engineer, are you? What would you expect to do, have robots start pulling all its wires and then it lands on Daffy Duck's head? Think in real terms, stop thinking in lore. You have been misled through the thrill of the fiction. Nukes are just a new technology that scared everyone, but it is a tangable thing an ICBM. If you understand these key engineering and scientific elements you will survive.

> The literature is too long and there's over 4 hours of videos in these playlists

And your point? Get prepared. Get knowledgable. Learn the truths, learn the myths.

Regardless of whether or not this is theater, after the initial spook of the Russian Nuclear Arsenal being put on highest alert, I realized that Civil Defense no longer exists. Movies, TV, and the Fallout series of video games are all fiction. Learn the facts. We had an entire half-century of the bomb, and the public education of it died. Learn the facts, not the fiction, and it will save your life.

Another thing I wish to note to the American and others here. The reason that you think that the films are outdated and cheesy is because you were shown the kid stuff in elementary school, boomer. Your parents were shown the more informative stuff, as well as the Civil Defense officers and the US Military. What they told the kids to do was Duck & Cover, and follow the instructions of Civil Defense workers and parents who /were/ trained. Bert the Turtle was for 4-13 year olds, boomer. You are now the parent. Please study the films and read the literature.

This is the 3rd Edition of Strategic Relocation from 2018. If anyone has the 4th edition, from 2020, please provide. Strageic Relocation gives an analysis of survivablity from each US state, as well as many metrics

> Hitting the earth at a speed of perhaps 30 km (19 mi) a second,[9]:10 the kinetic energy of the impact was estimated in 1996 to be roughly 3×1023 joules,[30] more than a billion times more energy than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan.
Humanity can't even master a force of the chicxulub impactor and the planet is fine.

Would You Like to Play a Game?
A Primer on National Nuclear Strategy, and Individual Survival
By A. Nonymous

Few subjects have been less understood in the last century than global thermonuclear war. Pop culture and journalism have depicted it as ending human civilization at the least, and all life on Earth at the worst. In doing so, they have propagated myths and inaccuracies that have actually reduced the chances of individuals surviving.

Nuclear war is a Bad Thing(tm). That much should be obvious. But, the details matter. What would happen to you, as an individual, and your friends and family, would depend on a variety of factors, many of which you actually have considerable control over.

Part One - A Strange Game; The Only Winning Move Is Not to Play

First, let's address one of the biggest elephants in the room: MAD. Mutual Assured Destruction has never been an official policy of the United States (or in any records recovered after the fall of the Soviet Union). Early on in the Cold War, WWII thinking regarding strategic bombardment still held considerable sway, with factories and raw resources considered valid targets. However, as the number of warheads on each side grew into the tens of thousands, it began to make less sense to target the enemy's cities, because there was now something much more important to shoot at--the enemy's warheads themselves.

Oh noes, g-guys! They're gonna make it snow!

Remember China Syndrome? Haha! A Nuclear Reactor Explosion can go through the Earth to China, dude.

BE SMART, BE WISE, AND STOP THINKING ABOUT MOVIES, TV, AND YOUR PRECIOUS FALLOUT VIDEO GAME SERIES. YOU HAVE BEEN MISLED.
