I'm watching "Little Otik", a dark comedy wtih elements of stop-motion animation made by Czech director Svankmajer. About a childless couple invented son made out of wood. Anything by him is extremely good, but weird. So far, I only watched his "Faust" and his "Alice" (abt Alice in Wonderland), both extremely good.
"Glengarry Glen Ross" is extremely good, but slow. If you like theatre or if you like seemingly professional people curse each other out in ridiculous, over-the-top emotional manner but with no interruption - this is for you. Watch on youtube clip "Glengarry Glen Ross - Patel" and if you like this clip then you'll like this movie. By the same director - "Homicide" about a Jewish cop who is struggling with his identity is also good, but far less enjoyable - it's still well-ritten, still has smart ass retorts, but it's more boring.
Bad movie, but I like this a lot - "Domino" with Keira Knightley. she plays against type as a tomboy (most times her characters wear dresses and have long dress - not this movie), there are a lot of attitude, orange and green colors, this whole movie is like a music video. Very unrealistic, and the ending sucks. But still. It's a bad movie, with a lot of plot turns and scenes that I would _erase_, but I rewatch it a lot, and enjoy it a lot.
Saw, first two parts - and _especially_ the 2nd part. in it, the villain gets to rant at length about his philosophy and what is it that makes it disagree with the world so much.. It was made in the 2000s - my favorite decade, both in life and in movies. Like in Domino, another 2000s movie, no one even touches a computer or a smartphone. i hate technology. I hate modern world it has no place for me. The Saw 2 also has this lack of motivation, lack of curiosity (don't want to have any money, don't want to know any new information) that is so characteristic of 2000s American movies.
It's a forth movie, but "Ginger Snaps" is another of my all-time favorites that left a deep impression on me. It's not really horror, more like drama about two sisters going through puberty and school drama. But with werewolves. Don't research anything about this movie just watch it.
Bonus: one (or actually two) non-English movie. Recently, I've watched the the Brazilian movie (a crime drama) "Elite Squad", and it's one of the best movies I've ever seen - I say this as a someone who watches movies religiously, has watched more than 2000 of movies and end up hating vast majority of them. The second movie "Elite Squad; The Enemy Within" is a masterpiece - for the whole time of me seeing it, there was nothing I disliked or didn't care about. I made a mistake of watching the 2nd before the 1, and yes, the 2nd is better but the 1st is okay too.
