Simps will worship anything, no matter what she looks like. Even if they get nothing out of it, even if no woman is watching, they still have that beta instinct to simp and put women on a pedestal.
Other women are probably a mix of virtue signaling, fake compliments so she stays fat and isn't competition, sarcastic compliments like you said, and delusional women (who are probably fat too) genuinely believing obesity is attractive, who think that by complimenting other fat women, they're complimenting themselves. Also women have this unwritten rule where they'll hype each other up, like sub 4 sub on Youtube. Women are brutal to women they see as competition, and supportive to women who aren't a threat.
The unattractive women themselves, it's probably pure delusion. The insecurity of knowing she's unattractive leads to her overcompensating and thinking she's a supermodel. Plus all the external praise. Plus it's mentally painful to acknowledge that you're unattractive, so to many people it's much MUCH easier to just live in a delusion. She also probably encountered men who decided to "date down" or "bang down", similarly to women in all levels of attractiveness.
Also, you'd be surprised. Morbidly obese unattractive women legit get ten times more attention than a pro bodybuilder man, if not hundreds of times more.
