> Not science, capitalism
Capitalism is just an economic system, it can't solve the problem, it can only incentivize endeavors that may or may not lead to the solution.
What will the endeavor be? Sorcery? Prayer? Maybe some kind of nondescript fictional science that doesn't exist but that you put all your blind faith in?
> There's an endless list of evidence that show capitalism is very fucking effective at solving human problems
There's an endless list of evidence that show capitalism is contributing to this problem. The issues tied to environmental decline are already visible and in full effect, agro-industries are losing billions to soil desertification and erosion. On the contrary medical institutions only have to gain from all the people getting ill from the pollution in our air and food.
> how did scientists not predict that?!
You're the only one here who's treating scientists like oracles that will save our souls when the time is right. Science isn't prediction.
> I also want to point out the fact that all investment towards a potential solution to microplastics and other form of pollution is literally coming from the USA
Of course, and after that the messiah of scientific industrialism Elon Musk will grab your hand and take you to space Eden where everything will be right.
