Let me tell you a couple of things.
Audrey is a textbook narcissist. In all seriousness, she is quite intelligent and good at what she does, and seems quite friendly and affable at first but her personal life has been a never-ending series of perceived betrayals and drama. As a former ...friend of hers, so to speak, I thought gee Audrey is so unlucky to always meet these bad people everywhere she goes.
But as the time's gone on I saw first hand how she would perceive any little slight as an insult or challenge to HER self esteem/ego/authority and it would quickly lead to serious conflict. It never stops, and it is almost as if she enjoys fighting and repeating the sob stories about how so-and-so turned out to be a bad partner, another betrayal. That spills over into all aspects of her personal life too and she has estranged and alienated more and more people over time, including me.
It took me a long time to reconcile that the Audrey I thought I knew did not exist.
