she thinks she does, but she doesn't, otherwise she'd know better than that. psychoanalysis is not without controversy but I think her hasty dismissal and the conflation with psychiatry are the result of her black and white thinking and her autistic brain, which I find particularly irritating because I usually like some fucking nuance with my reasoning. Deleuze-Guattari and Foucault make some nice points on psychoanalysis and psychiatry as means of power and oppression, but psychoanalys as a practice is much more than ideology. I'm not sure she understands that

Lacan is a very interesting development of Freud's theories. I doubt she's read all the seminars, it's a lot of stuff, but it's not necessary. if she's still completely dismissive of psychoanalysis after having read Lacan either she didn't actually read his work or she didn't get it
