There's actually some interesting psychology behind this stuff. When someone is learning something, they usually start by copying others, then copying while making changes, and then finally being original.
Take Art and drawing for example. First you copy cartoon characters or something, then you make OCs, then you eventually draw your own characters, worlds, and stories.
People who are coddled, or who don't experience enough "evolutionary pressure", are stuck at the copying stage.
Fun fact: That's why "soy" people sound so awkward. Because they're just copying how other people speak, instead of thinking for themselves and using their own terms. Hence the r*ddit NPC speech like "As a ", "This, so much this", "Found the ", "I can't even". Not to mention the unoriginal """jokes""".
