Minidisc was good at the time but absolute trash in the long run. Its a trash format, Lofi, dead like casette. 

In the late 90s Nuro actually downloaded music from Napster, and used the SPDIF output of his creative LIVE! soundcard to directly record digital  downloads to his DAT. DAT had 3 hour tapes. Yes Nuro had digital downloads back in 1999.
