I don't discuss moderation on purpose.
Trolls do trolling for attention. They are like bad kids who are bad because parents don't pay attention to them if they behave normally - or even good. So they provoke their parents by behaving badly.
Because attention is reward.
If I engage trolls/bad actors while moderating they feel they get attention from me, and this enourages them to troll/behave bad more.
They also could try discussing moderation. They try turn it into an argument - they try this all the time. They try to rule lawyering, explaining endlessly things away that are not for arguments. Because they seek attention through the engagement.
There is this thing they call irl "energy vampires", trolls and other bad actors on imageboards are that, energy and time vampires. They suck away energy and time from moderators. Especially since these trolls have nothing better to do in their lives.
Moderators on imageboards get no money for their work, get no compensation for their time and energy they waste on these undeserving individuals.
I give attention to good posting, content, OC, and even calls for help generously. I always did. I ignore posts that don't deserve attention. I can have a conversation with anyone, they just have to post normal things.
I also encourage posters to do the same. Don't waste your time on bad content, on being angry and nonsensical arguments. You reward posts by giving attention.
Also just because I don't reply to a post it doesn't mean I ignore that - I can't reply to all the posts, physically impossible - so I have to select those out that too bland, I can't add anything to, don't inspire me, or just simply hold no interest to me.
