> Just do capoeira,
i guess capoeira is one of the more interesting options that really does have physical expression elements to it.
> or just know actually go do Tango/Other trad dancing if your country has a scene.
dancing these strict styles probably has it's advantages too but what i mean in physical expression is broader.
> but calling something like Skating dancing is gay as an excuse to skate.
you don't get it, the unconscious parts of yourself yearn for artistic expression, for physical play, for you experimenting with your body and never stop refining your motion process. skating is the total imersion into piloting your human vehicle and you keep learning little stuff, like how much you can trust gravity within a motion or rotation. in the gym you might get stronger, in the combat sports dojo you might learn to improve your kick but those skills don't transfer over to every other aspect of your life. they don't necessarily have it in them to show you how to move with grace or elegance or physical humor. fighting is learned primarily to satisfy petty survival worries, it is usually learned for all the wrong reasons.
> Most people my age and older were too cool for dancing
yeah when i was young people were like that too, this is the culture fucking people up and leaving healthy people with no choice but to reject mainstream culture.
> if we wanted to look tough and cool for the chicks.
i am sure tough guys and fighters get their fair share of attention too when they do something on command but when women see you make complicated movements nobody else can do they go crazier. a fighter has to do a handstand effortlessly and it will never look as cool as what a skater does.
