I think I am reasonably sane.
But I take your point. Maybe we have different definitions of sheltered.
She is sheltered in the way that she has never had the opportunity to learn about what life is like for most other people. And so never learned to be resilient to their shit.
But ever since she got famous she has been exposed to more attention, and a lot of it very bad, than most normal people experience in their whole lives.
In that way I think she was not been sheltered at all. In a way most children are sheltered.
And I think you are right about her wanting to, have friends and fit in. Something she is ill prepared for.
But it must be pretty hard to find real friends given her situation.
She attract creeps or clout chasers. If she finds someone normal that could be a good friend, they have a life already and not much time for her, also they might fear being stalked, or she might not want to get involved in fear of putting that on them.
