> "Didi the Devil"—or Dieter Senft (74), as the German is actually named—is world-famous as the costumed devil who appears on your TV screen during every Tour de France. He has been a fixture since 1993, but this year’s Tour got off to a disappointing start for Senft: his camper van was broken into. This occurred during the night of July 3–4—right at the start of the Tour in Barcelona. Senft, who was preparing to follow the entire Tour de France, missed the opening stage as a result. He had only just acquired a new van, but it attracted the attention of thieves. He shared the incident on Instagram, listing what had been stolen: "My toothbrush and comb, a mini-fridge full of ham and cheese, and a Teufel speaker." Later, Senft posted an update revealing that "quite a bit more was missing—rough neighborhood, Barcelona."
