no idea, apparently low cadence is more viable indoors in general compared to real cycling and in turn standing low cadence is easier to pedal than seated low cadence.
I'm not even sure if this really is widespread and not just a quirk for my mate and his goons, their sanity and thus credibility is questionable because after all they prefer to stay indoors instead of going outside.
But I did notice lots of lower cadence averages on zwift when I zwifted a lot one winter
