What a strange weekend of racing we have had! Today marks the end of the North American limb of the World Tour calendar and that means time for another /WORLD TOUR WINE/ (bier) !!

It's been a VERY busy day with family stuff and time to wind down with one of the better beers we've had this year! This is brewed in St. Jerome in the suburbs just outside Montreal. This is an Imperial Stout, which is a deeply alcoholic ale made of roasted malt. Apparently they were high-alcohol to keep them fresh during the journey from England (where they were brewed) to Russia (where they were favored by the czar's court).

Dieu du Ciel Peche Mortel ($9)

Pours a deep, opaque dark chocolate color with coffee-colored mousse. The nose is roasted malt, espresso, chocolate. The palate has a medium/heavy mouthfeel but firmly carbonated and the booze is hidden. Flavor is mocha and roasted, nutty bread. This is fantastic for such a big beer. It is balanced and very flavorful, no sharp edges at all. Great!
