The Fall of 2020 was another such inflection point for the Emmy the Robot threads. For one, Dominic had established a patreon with the weekly comics being posted early there instead of elsewhere. For two, though, this was the first year that Emmy could participate in Ms. /co/, per the fotm rule. September 2020, though, was different. Emmy was nominated and qualified, and was performing quite well in the polls and in the threads- there was a lot of good artwork from Emmy artists and non-Emmy artists alike, and writing for ads and so on as well. Even a Cave Johnson-style story from one writer following John Sterling (the founder of Sterling robotics, who made Emmy and other robots like her) and the Ms. /co/ contest. However, Emmy's performance was, arguably, boosted. Another name-avatarfag by the name of Basilanon (the detective from, well, the Great Mouse Detective) revealed a Latino facebook page for comics/cartoons appreciation that, though not directly shot off from 4chan's /co/, was still trying to brigade votes for their favorite characters. This included ones like Hekapoo, and others I can't recall off the top of my head, but Emmy was at the forefront of these efforts. An outroar occurred in the Ms. /co/ threads so grievous that even Emmy fans wanted Emmy out, though this was a point of heavy contention and would only be decided ultimately by both statsanon (the OP) and the anons voting ultimately. Emmy was ejected in her match against Gwenpool, and 4chan-specific passwords were added so wandering Latinos (in this case Peruvians- art examples here: https://msco.booru.org/index.php?page=post&s=list&tags=Emmy&pid=40) couldn't access the polls. The year ended as normally as it could have, with Dr. Mrs. The Monarch taking the crown. However, the sheer shitstorm generated around it, and the incessant attacks on Emmy fans, and the ample butthurt produced from the scandal (if there was one, which is still a matter of debate today) was enough to attract the Jannies' attention into October of 2020.
