He knew who the guy was MAYBE, he DEFINITELY saw the guy pulling up and decided at that point to kill him.  He didn't plan this for weeks, he was almost sure he'd never have the chance to kill someone that rich, surely they'd be smart enough to spend 1% on sec.  Right?
