I agree, but I take things on a case by case basis.  I guess I do cuck out, in that I consider just tossing them the tip they expect saves me, hopefully, from being scammed, in the same way you write in absolute zeros so they can't write it in themselves.

From what I know of other parties that have gone to Japan as foreigners, his ONLY chance is to be VERY overt in making the first, if not all the moves.
Like he will have to ask approach and ask out 100% of the time, and he'll be rejected/turned down A LOT.  The stars will kinda have to align for the ones that take him up.

But he'll get there.  He will.
It'll take a lot of luck, but I have faith.
