Merry Christmash
Being behind schedule sucks, but here we are.
The ale from the seventh of December, is the Troubadour Winter, from the brewery Musketeer.
The ale has an odd alcohol by volume of 9.99%. It looks nice by all means, but why label it as such. Probably to get around some weird law somewhere
In any case, the ale pours a brown see-through colour, with a smooth, soft head which lasts a good while.
Like the other Christmas ales, this one has a deep smell of cinnamon, as well as a kitchen a few hours after baking this years Christmas cookies.
Tasting it, the sweet taste of cinnamon hits your palette, but then, the strong beverage explodes in your mouth, leaving a deep floury bitterness with the spirit hanging in your throat, completely overpowering the added Christmas seasoning.
It feels like the brewery started with an IPA, threw in additional hops and sweeteners, effectively turning the ale into a DIPA.
Nevertheless, it has plenty more flavour than your regular IPA, so if deep bitterness and a very spicy beer is your thing, this should be added to your list of "must-try ales".
Merry Christmas
