even the Orthodox churches who celebrate Christmas on 25th of December still use Julian Calendar for Easter and other holiday with non-fixed date. 
Also miracles happen on Julian Calendar Holidays dates.
So basically Julian calendar may be astronomically imperfect but it is more canonical.
