Well, it wasn't an actual "Sam" edit so I thought it wasn't pertinent to the conversation, that's why I've sent the post anyway halfway through watching it.
It's like if someone used the frame interpolation on this edit for example. I've had to use frame interpolation before on footage to achieve certain effects and while it works okay-ish for actual real footage it massacres anime footage for example.
Even then you only use it if you absolutely have to since it introduces artifacts, I cannot imagine looking at an original and upscaled version of that Supernatural edit and saying "Yea, that's good, that looks better upscaled"
