Also the story is a bit more involved and he got a bit fucked over by the state but maybe he should've laid low because he had a prior history of screwing a company out of money but they didn't sue. 
Well the state sued instead since he didn't cooperate with the authorities on the tor node decryption so basically he got screwed big time because of being else a freetard or a dumbass hiding something nefarious over tor.
Though I have a sneaking suspicion he's just a canary in the coal mine and the three letter agencies are just showing off that they can and will do you dirty if you try to step out of line.
