not to appeal to authority, but valve employs real economists, i think even the former greek prime minister yanis varoufakis was their in house economist for a while, so whatever they did will surely benefit them in the end
they dont make money when big ticket items get traded off-site via crypto or whatever so they dont really care if those items lose all of their value, the only problem i can see is that the trust is now broken so people wont want to open cases, but i am sure some nerd maths phd already did the calculations and they will still profit more in the end even if some whales will stop spending now
