Do you think in Gattaca that the "In-Valid"'s genetic problems were overstated? Vincent needed glasses, but he lived far part his expected death time and didn't seem to have any real heart issues or health problems. Yeah, he had to fake his way through physical exams but he was capable of doing the physical tests, they just exerted him a lot. Maybe he wasn't a genetic freak but he was a smart intelligent guy and fairly physically active, ontop of spending an hour every day faking his identity.

It felt to me that the gene-doctors were being hyperbolic about how bad a child's life is if not genetically engineered to push parents into doing it.
