Everything went wrong, unsuccessfully, from the very beginning:
1. Imho, it was planned for the beginning of May. There and during the holidays, there was media pressure, and drones over the Kremlin, and some oil depots. What went wrong, maybe the weather, maybe some deliveries of weapons did not have time, maybe an agreement, or maybe all together.
2. There was clearly something useful and fucked up in Khmelnytsky. And there were other arrivals in warehouses.
3. Some kind of indistinct raid into the Belgorod region at the end of the month. Probably, it was supposed to squeeze at least a piece of the Russian Federation, and force to transfer some reserves there or distract attention. It didn't work out, there was an epic file at all.
4. Had to arrange a zombie apocalypse in Shebekino and air show in DS. Everyone gave a shit on Shebekino, they had to lure the governor out to create at least some media effect. And the air show turned out so well, the metropolitan viewer did not appreciate - it is clear that they cooked in a hurry, in less than a month, and tried to repeat the May plot.
Finally, we decided to start with what we have and see what happens. No adequate reconnaissance, no preparations, immediately into battle. Well, the result is appropriate. Here, I think, the point is not stupidity, but as if some details are missing, lost in paragraph 2.
On the other hand, there's not much news coming in, and even less showing the manpower, the corpses. Perhaps really reconnaissance combat and probing. In the end, a lot of equipment that did not participate in battles before, you need to understand the nuances: how it is struck by mines-drones-art, whether everything is burned inside or you need grills on the roof.
Finally, the not-so-successful counteroffensive is an excellent reason to ask for more weapons, and urgently. You see, some Poland and will find several planes lying in a distant hangar. . .
