The Armenian Defense Ministry reported the death of four soldiers as a result of shelling on Tuesday morning by the Azerbaijani army. The department noted that the fire was conducted in the direction of the village of Nerkin Hand in Syunik region, in the south of the country.

One soldier was wounded, his life is out of danger, the Armenian Defense Ministry added.

The state border service of Azerbaijan, in turn, announced the conduct of a military operation on Tuesday in response to a provocation from the Armenian side. It is alleged that the day before the Armenian military fired on Azerbaijani soldiers near the village of Nerkin-And, Gafan district. One Azerbaijani border guard was reported injured. Subsequently, a military post of the Armenian armed forces was shelled, from where fire was conducted the day before, Baku noted.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said that Armenian army units shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani military in the Tovuz direction of the border.
