On Monday, the Houthis said they had sunk the Rubimar. It would be the most significant incident since attacks on ships began in November.
But the BBC obtained a snapshot of the ship, taken on Wednesday, which shows it is still above the water.
The ship's owner said it was being towed to Djibouti but could still sink.
A UK-registered vessel attacked in the Red Sea was damaged but did not sink.
