On the evening of March 16, the Hamas-owned Quds Force reported that a senior Gaza police commander, Yusuf Muhammad Abu Jazar, had died in hospital from wounds sustained about a month earlier.

About a month ago in the south of the Gaza Strip, an IDF drone fired a missile at a car in which Abu Jazar was traveling, he was seriously wounded.

Yusuf Muhammad Abu Jazar was one of the most senior Hamas police officers in the Rafah area. His rank was equivalent to the rank of colonel.
