Kazakhstan agreed to export oil bypassing Russia

After a Russian court stopped exporting Kazakh oil through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium in July, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayeva urgently opens up new ways to transport Kazakh oil.

Kazakhstan will start exporting some of its oil through Azerbaijan, Reuters learned. Kazakhstan’s state-owned oil company Kazmunaigas is in talks with Azerbaijan’s state-owned SOCAR on permission to sell 1.5 million tons of oil per year through an Azerbaijani pipeline that leads to the Turkish port of Ceyhan. The contract is due to be signed at the end of August.

Kazakhstan will be able to export another 3.5 million tons of oil per year in 2023 via the Azerbaijani pipeline to the Georgian port of Supsa.
Tengizchevroil, a joint venture between Chevron and KazMunayGas, began using the route through the Georgian port of Batumi.
