Living conditions in Germany deteriorated after the departure of Merkel, most Germans believe. In a YouGov poll conducted for the 70th anniversary of the former Chancellor, this opinion was expressed by 61% of respondents. Only 7% believe the situation has improved.
The opinion that after the departure of Angela Merkel from the post of Chancellor, the situation in the country has worsened, more often expressed people of the older age group: so says 71% of respondents from 60 to 69 years and 69% of respondents aged 50 to 59 years. The majority of those dissatisfied were among voters of the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany (AfD), 85 percent of whom believe that the situation with Merkel’s departure has worsened.
Those who believe that living conditions have become worse blame the current federal government of Olaf Scholz (28%), 15% explain the deterioration by external factors, another 55% cite both Scholz and “external circumstances”.
