Elon Musk holds secret meeting with Iranian ambassador to UN

The founder of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk, whom Donald trump appointed the head of the new Department of efficiency of the US government, on Monday, November 11, met with Iranian Ambassador to the UN Amir Saeed Iravani, reports The New York Times, citing two Iranian officials.

The meeting, according to the NYT, took place in a secret location and lasted more than an hour. The newspaper’s interlocutors said the discussion concerned how to defuse tensions between Iran and the United States and described the meeting as “positive”.

One NYT source claims that it was Musk who requested the meeting, and the Iranian ambassador chose the location. An Iranian Foreign Ministry official claims that at the meeting, Ambassador Iravani told Musk that he should seek the lifting of sanctions against Iran and move some of his business to Tehran.
