Two Bulgarians on trial in London admitted to spying on Russia

46-year-old Orlin Rusev and 43-year-old Bizer Dzhambazov made the confessions before the meeting, according to dpa. Three other suspects in the same case deny their guilt, the dpa news agency reported.

The investigation believes that the guilty Rusev led a group of spies working for Moscow. He is believed to have received assignments from Jan Marsalek, an Austrian businessman who allegedly collaborated with the slave secret services and then escaped justice.

According to the investigation, the spy group worked not only in the UK, but also in Germany, Austria, Spain and Montenegro. At the trial, prosecutor Alison Morgan said the defendants received images of people or objects between 2020 and 2023 and compiled detailed reports on their targets. In return, they received “significant amounts of money,” Morgan said.
