The explosion of the Kakhov hydroelectric power station: Crimea was forever left without fresh water

“We have lost water for Crimea forever. If not restored, this is a loss for the Crimea, this is a loss for the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant – for the cooling ponds, which must be constantly fed from the Kakhov reservoir.
- says General Director of Ukrhydroenergo Igor Sirota.

He also noted that the industry and agricultural sector of Kherson region lost up to 94% of water after the destruction of the dam. To compensate for these losses is almost impossible without the restoration of the reservoir. Igor Sirota believes that the restoration work will cost about 12 billion euros.

In general, according to the estimates of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP dam caused damage to $ 14 billion.
