The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry talked about the possibility of a "deal" with Georgia on Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Speaking at a press conference at the UN General Assembly in New York, Sergey Lavrov said that an agreement to settle the long-standing confrontation in Georgia was possible. Russia is open to a compromise that could lead to the withdrawal of its troops from Abkhazia and South Ossetia - the Moscow-backed separatist regions of Georgia, Lavrov said.
