> Though I especially take seriously is one off remarks and background gags from season 4, that being there most well season 8 may bring that logic back lore building towards something and hard cannon season.
season 4 was the restart. If you watch the final song in Twilight´s Kingdom, you will notice that there are no repeated background ponies. There aren´t any copy-pasted ponies whatsoever and all of them have like an actual identity, becoming less replaceable in terms of animation. Season 5 did that with Dolores in What About Discord and Amending Fences, Season 6 with Thorax in the Crytalling...no wonder, you keep an eye on background stuff. Nothing has been unintended save Derpy, and even then her being an accident, she had a role in the movie by saving Twilight.

> Doesn't mean everything was purposeful and many fans push theories into stupid territory (remember Fluttershy is pregnant with Discords child?
obviously, falling into mindless conclusions and jumping into the zone in an extreme way....well, it´s cringy. Sometimes funny but that just serves to waste neurons on what could possibly a joke in the first place.
> but it still surprises me even with pushing aside all that how there is still can be quite a bit to actually think about in some parts of the show.
indeed. Animators works a lot and there are little details in retrospective that only a few appreciate at first, yet when you see the screencap threads, you notice how much effort went into the episode. It´s always been cheap static animation but polishing it, just makes it worth to get lost into such little yet cute details behind the main characters.

Pic related for example, proof of how a little gimmick bird like a phoenix for two episodes back then in early seasons then served to bring a message of adulthood in Molt Down (season 8) for Spike.
