> oh, so almost top 15
Now top 15.

> ponies unfortunately sucked in the 2000s a lot
Yea, I was talking about early 2000's + G4 MLP. Earlier gen was actually there for that times, but it was nowhere near as interesting as G4 would be.
> If they didn´t reach an all time low in terms of popularity and quality, Faust and DHX wouldn´t have put their hands on this gen
I'm not sure about that, but then again I don't know about the initial reasons behind G4 conception, so I'll trust You on that one.
> I think that while it looks like a wish one can dream, ponies came at the right time. Not too soon, not too late. Just in the middle of the internet transition of fun to all serious business.
Eh, I'd still wager couple of years. The transition period probably ended around 2015, and ponies outlived that barrier. While it's true that increasing availability of everything during that period helped foster pony fandom, but precisely that scarcity, reduced availability and the increased creativity required to work around that and the true wild west is paradoxically what I would want to see out of the whole ordeal.

> it means that you appreciate that things that happen at the time are more valuable than I think
Yes, while present is the least interesting of three brothers (past, present and future), I know I'm riding an all time high that will never happen again (personally, but same could also be applied to pony fandom in general). It's unsurprising that when things go well, one does not want change. But should things go south, that point of view takes a 180 degree turn.

> Not saying that one has to fear new things but staying in a zone in which you think it sucks, it may be the better part of the two paths
Fear of unknown is one of the primal fears. Inertia is a concept that I think applies not only to physical things objects, but also to psychological aspects of our life.
> I suppose that wishing someone interesting times means that he is going to suffer for those changes, most of them unwelcoming.
> I suppose, you are referring to health issues.
Well the prime meaning behind wishing someone to live in "interesting times" was that those times in question were wartimes. Now You can see why the adage fell into disuse after the end of the Cold War. But I still find it elegant, and of broader scope that its primary meaning.

> but did that stop /mlp/ from being a relevant pillar of that site?
In all honesty, I doubt You'd hear anyone saying that. Ponies were an important point in 4chan history indeed, but /mlp/ was a containment board first and foremost, and maybe outside of much narrower scope of 4CC, it didn't have all that big of an impact on the rest of the site everr since I think
