I don´t know, in theory that pose comes from a dance and has gained relevance from I suppose, rappers and celebrities. 

The most startling thing is that the dab pose is actually banned in pic related´s country because "it alludes to drugs" and they will send you to prison for doing that. I guess their religion does not allow fun at all. Tolerance at its finest.
