At what cost is Hasbro willing to mess it up in order to appeal to a specific fraction of people and alienate other parts of its possible targets that could provide tons of money and momentum to the franchise? Keep in mind that even by playing with pink capitalism, they have to deliver a fertile product in order to milk it (as we have seen with FiM). The moment in which they are rewarded with effortless cash-grabs or just care about the money from investors who are simply interested in spreading a very specific agenda, then they will go to the direction that you fear. As long as it prints money for them and they can squeeze everything from it, they will attempt to go for that if it works for economic reasons. Whether they disappoint or not with that strategy, it will depend entirely on the effort or charm that they make for said productions. But yeah, nothing (except huge losses of money) prevents them from making a move like that. We have seen that with gen 3.5 and Pony Life. Most likely,Hasbro will follow that path at some point. It is just a matter of time.
