Maybe...maybe the newest banner doesn't feel out of place at all. 

It can be anything but outdated.

Instead of waiting 7 years for their addition (from 2010 to 2017),Hasbro has decided to shorten the waiting time. Only 3 years for introducing them in gen 5.

First the breezies,then the dragons and the most recent addition: Seaponies (with gen 4 bodies). 

Whether they are canon or they are kept in the comics, there is official evidence of such intentions.

It might not be the same as winning the lottery but Bridgefag certainly delivered an update to the board just one month prior to this announcement.
