RE Board positions on 8chan
I was discussed with BO (of this endchan board) my subjective impressions about the role of BO/BV's on 8chan, so i thought i'd tag that post with this verified info. Good info to discuss, especially with the imminent return on 8chan as 8qun. Recommend all anons read these two articles, espec. the Sept 25 document just submitted to Congress (capped).

Sep 25 doc discusses in detail the function of volunteers in 8chan,
"volunteer accounts (including
Global Volunteer, Board Owner, Board Volunteer, and Reporter)."

"From their dashboards, Board Owners were able to create two types of accounts: Board Volunteer (with
moderation powers) and Reporter (without any moderation powers). Reporters did not have access to any
moderation action buttons. For example, Reporters could not ban any users or delete any posts; likewise, they did not have access to post histories. The only differences between a Reporter and a regular user were the ability to create threads on very specific boards that disabled thread creation by regular users and the ability to identify themselves using a red ## Reporter tag (also known as a capcode)."

Doc 2 was submitted on Sep 3 2019 to the Homeland Sec Cmte in the House, which includes some volunteer info:

"When logged into a volunteer account, the user in question has access to the moderation action buttons, which appear on every post on the board his account is tied to or on every post sitewide (in the case of Global Volunteers).

"Volunteers can also see a user's truncated IP address hash. On 8chan, all IP addresses are hashed to make users anonymous and protect their privacy....A volunteer can also click on the IP address hash and see all active (still not deleted) posts made by that address on the board they are on."

------
So my general impression that BOs and BV's have similar abilities to moderate seems to be correct. Did not know about Reporters, sounds like a specialized function or one not used much. What I don't know is how standardized functions like these are on free speech image boards (am an 8chan baker but not an chan oldfag).

Thoughts, anons?
