How do you know the news?
News is factual.
Includes who what when where why how
Structure of news articles: most important info comes first, extra stuff goes last
Most applicable to us in how we do notables, i think i already wrote on this but basically--
- go for anon notables FIRST--cardinal rule
- make sure they are fact-dense (not just "something did something" (cite names, dates, location, etc)
- fact check questionable data (like breaking news, sorcha faal, etc.)
- better to wait than make a mistake
- ask anons for feedback/input, to catch possible mistakes
- make sure all notables are sauced (especially tweets)
- check dates on everything
- now that qresear.ch is available, check for dups (you want ONE copy of a story not many--both confusing and "bloated" if otherwide = spam)
- encourage anons to use red text for notables so they can be found; also to include brief description
Re diggs/posts
- always include at least the main idea (not all pics)
- Use formatting to make ideas clear
- Includes relevant links in additional to minimal sauce
- includes caps when possible
- includes date of pub so baker does not have to check
There's moar but that's a start
