Reel America: "Excavation of the Donner Party Site" - 1994. This 1994 U.S. Forest Service film showed an excavation of a site believed to be a Donner Party campsite. The Donner pioneers were migrating to California in a wagon train from the Midwest in the mid-1840s when they were stuck in a surprise October snowstorm in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Groundbreaking Women in Science & Journalism. Biographers Allison Gilbert and Kate Zernike talked about the subjects of their books, columnist Elsie Robinson and scientist Nancy Hopkins. Elsie Robinson was a nationally syndicated columnist in the 1920s and Nancy Hopkins was a cancer researcher at MIT who fought for equality for women in science.
