I think the biggest problem is most people were being warned to prepare well over a decade ago, even years before Obama was in office, but for whatever reason many people simply ignored the warning signs and recommendations from other preppers. Now that things have gotten so bad in this country it's almost too late for most people to prepare because prepping costs too much money. You have to at least have standard middle class income to prepare these days, if not upper middle class by now. The truth is it was not like this two decades ago when almost anyone could have afforded to stock up on extra food and goods, or afforded a mortgage for a basic house, plus the price of ammo was dirt cheap too. Not anymore! I remember when I first started prepping almost two decades ago a one year supply of food would cost around $800. Know how much those one year supplies sell for today? Well over $4000 now days! Shit, I'm middle class and I can't afford that either. Next two years those will cost a whole lot more. They are pricing people out of the market so prepping is a missed opportunity for many people today.
