Reel America: "Excavation of the Donner Party Site" - 1994. This 1994 U.S. Forest Service film showed an excavation of a site believed to be a Donner Party campsite. The Donner pioneers were migrating to California in a wagon train from the Midwest in the mid-1840s when they were stuck in a surprise October snowstorm in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Reel America is an American History TV series featuring 20th century archival films produced mostly by government agencies.
