Reel America: "The President - January 1968" The White House Naval Photographic Unit filmed the January 1968 activities of President Lyndon B. Johnson. The film shows President Johnson preparing for and delivering his January 17, 1968 State of the Union address, and details his response to several crises. On January 23, North Korea seized a naval surveillance ship, the USS Pueblo, and 83 crew members were taken prisoner. On January 30, North Vietnam launched surprise attacks across South Vietnam in what became known as the Tet Offensive. This film is courtesy of the LBJ Presidential Library.
