Road to the White House: 2008 Barack Obama 2007 Iowa Campaign Rally. Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama supported the presidential bid of Senator Barack Obama at a campaign rally. This event in the Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines, Iowa, which drew the largest crowd yet in the campaign season, was the beginning of a three-state tour by Oprah Winfrey in support of Senator Obama. After introductory remarks by Mrs. Obama, Ms. Winfrey listed the accomplishments of Senator Obama, lauded his vision, and said that she was not there to tell her own opinions but to ask the crowd to think about his positions. Then Senator Obama spoke about the progress of his campaign in Iowa and a variety of campaign issues such as energy policy, the war in Iraq, and administration corruption and incompetence.
